| Q1. |
Your instructions say that we can look up standards using their titles. How else can we search for standards. Can we use key words appearing in standard texts? |
| A1. |
You can look up the JIS of your choice using keys such as their "titles," "standard numbers, " "ICS codes," "dates of establishment," "quoted JIS," "quoted international standards," or "corresponding international standards." You can also locate the ISO or IEC standards of your choice using such information as "titles (either in Japanese or English)," "standard numbers," "ICS codes," "dates of establishment," and "TCs (technical committees)." We regret that key words in standard texts are not yet accessible for searches. We may introduce this service in the future, however. |
| Q2. |
I believe it is possible to purchase ISO and IEC standards by visiting these organizations' websites. What are the advantages of purchasing them at the JSA Web Store? |
| A2. |
The JSA Web Store allows shoppers to look for the ISO or IEC standards of their choice in Japanese. It also gives shoppers the option of making payment in Japanese yen. Our web store has ISO and IEC standards at prices virtually the same as those that the two organizations offer at their websites. |
| Q3. |
What do you mean by "personal use" of standards provided in the form of PDF files? |
| A3. |
"Personal use" of standards in PDF files means users can use only one computer under their management for installing and accessing the concerned PDF files. Users are also allowed to make paper copies of such standards for personal use. |
| Q4. |
Printed standards allow two or more people to read them at facilities like libraries. Can I download standards, store them in my PC, and share them with others? |
| A4. |
You can invite other people to read downloaded standards on your PC. However, you are prohibited from copying downloaded PDF files and giving them to other PC users. |
| Q5. |
I'm not sure about the types of PDF files you offer. Please explain them to me. |
| A5. |
The JSA Web Store began offering JIS in the form of 400-dpi imaged-based PDF files simultaneously with its launch. We are now planning to divide heavier PDF files for JIS and offer them in installments. We expect that the number of JIS we offer in the form of character-based PDF files will increase after April 2002 as processes involved in JIS establishment become more and more electronic. JSA is the official marketer of ISO and IEC standards in Japan. Files we handle contain electronic data supplied by the ISO and the IEC. We currently offer ISO and IEC standards in character-based and image-based PDF files. |
